  • The winners of the HOYER/MAN Dealer Of The Year Awards 2015 have been announced. The awards in three categories; Dealer Of The Year, Technician Of The Year and Outstanding Performer Of The Year, were made at an awards dinner held at the Lea Marston Hotel, Warwickshire on Thursday, 12 November.

An appearance by former England rugby player Gareth Chilcott as after dinner speaker and a fundraising raffle for the charity,Transaid were among highlights of the evening.

Allan Davison, Operations Director at HOYER said: “I would like to congratulate this year’s winners and finalists. These awards recognise exceptional performance in areas of fleet safety, legality and compliance and are now established within the industry. This year’s nominations were of the highest calibre and the awards night gave us a great opportunity to bring colleagues from different businesses across the sector to celebrate excellence.”

Simon Elliott, Managing Director, MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd said: ““It is always a privilege to hear the stories of excellence and dedication behind the nominations in awards such as these.

“They highlight the dedication and determination shown by the MAN network and their technicians to support our partners and it is good to see their efforts rewarded. MAN Truck and Bus UK is proud to be associated with Hoyer in recognising their achievements.”

The Dealer Of The Year Award was presented to Aquila Truck Centres (Kingsbury).

Allan Davison said: “This award has been presented to a workshop that has demonstrated significant year on year improvement in all of HOYER’S criteria for safety, compliance and service. Managing a fleet of 45 combinations, Aquila Truck Centres achieved a compliance audit score of 94%, has a dropped load performance of 0.5% from 61,200 scheduled deliveries (Combined contracts), a fleet availability performance of 95%, and an MOT first time pass rate of 98% with no equipment related safety incidents or prohibitions.

He added: “This was a truly excellent performance from Aquila Truck Centres workshop.”

The team at Aquila Truck Centres also celebrated a win in the Technician Of The Year Award which was presented to Henryk Wisniewski.

Henryk was described as having been instrumental in this year’s success at Aquila Truck Centre.

Allan Davison said: “As weekend shift supervisor Henryk is fully aware of HOYER’s service level requirements and has a good rapport with the drivers. He reacts as soon as vehicles arrive with defects in order to minimise disruption and reduce dropped loads and in doing so improves fleet availability.

“Weekends are a critical time for HOYER deliveries and as weekend supervisor, Henryk Wisniewski is fully aware of the priority to get HOYER vehicles back on the road and to promote a ‘right first time’ philosophy.”

The Outstanding Performance Of The Year Award was presented to Steven Wall, HOYER Petrolog UK’s Location Transport Manger at Kingsbury. Steven was described by Allan Davison as a “very worthy winner of this award”.

He said: “Steven Wall has driven through significant change over the last 12 months in transforming Kingsbury into one of the best performing locations. This includes, fleet compliance performance, shift provision, dropped load performance, MPG performance and driver tachograph improvements. This has been achieved by understanding his start position, structuring corrective action plans and following up on those plans to achieve success. Steven communicates effectively to the workforce and shares management information through good quality and visible KPI’s. He takes his fleet responsibility very seriously and oozes quality in his approach to his work.”

A Dealer Special Recognition Award was presented to Jess Adlard from HRVS Scunthorpe for his work on a vehicle following a road traffic accident in the Peak District in March 2015,

Allan Davison said: “As part of Hoyer’s emergency response arrangements and working on behalf of HRVS; Jess Adlard was one of the first people on the scene and worked closely with our incident controller Fleet Engineer and emergency services. He was actively involved in assessing, formulating and executing a working plan which took nearly 48 hours to conclude due to adverse weather conditions, this included a roadside product transfer.

“The role played by Jess following this incident typifies the commitment and professionalism displayed by our supplier and this was truly one of those rare occasion where going that “extra mile” really meant something to HOYER.”

Pam Sahota from HOYER was presented with the HOYER Special Recognition Award. After nine years of dedicated service to HOYER working on the Shell contract, firstly as a Location Transport Manager for HOYER Petrolog UK in Kingsbury and Stanlow and then as a Regional Transport Manager, Pam is leaving the business to develop her career further by taking up a new challenge.
